Demolition completed at new Swansea bus station

Demolition work has finished and the site is now being cleared in readiness for the main building work to start at Swansea’s new, state of the art £10m bus station, adjacent to the Quadrant shopping centre. The 15 month project will have 20 bus bays and coach stands, along with modern passenger facilities and waiting areas.

Main contractor Willmott Dixon have appointed Hayes Engineering Services to manufacture and install all of the structural steel, including cold rolled purlins. This work incorporates all the bus shelters, offices and a distinctive circular tower.

Hayes will also be handling the complex fabrication of wishbone columns and curved cantilever beams which are the signature feature of the inside of the bus station.
