Hayes Engineering Services takes its business forward by obtaining
ISO14001
HESL recognises that the industry needs to do its part to create
a sustainable future and signs up to the ISO standard for environmental
sustainability.
For its first year (2009). HESL started by:
- Creating an Environmental manual to the ISO standard and updating
its policies and procedures.
- Auditing all waste streams and Recycling 85+% of its general
waste by sending it to registered waste disposal agents that
specialize in reducing waste to landfill.
- Turning off the Air conditioning, lighting and unused electricals
when the building is not in use.
- Reviewing all utility usage over the year to see where further
energy savings can be made.
- Encourage suppliers to become more environmentally aware.
- Transferring company vehicles to non fossil fuel substitutes
where financially viable.
This is an ongoing commitment to the environment, and, Hayes
Engineering Services H&S manager Luke Pitt re-iterated that
every effort is being made to take the company forward with the
new policies and that this is just the beginning.
