Health and Safety Profile

As managers are well aware, particularly of engineering companies with labour/site intensive operations, the success of a company depends significantly on the welfare of its staff. In turn, staff welfare is dependent on the efficient implementation and management of health and safety strategy. The industry has received much media attention over incidents resulting from ineffective or lack of Health and Safety policy. This has highlighted the need for organisations, particularly those involved in high risk operations, to ensure they have adequately addressed Health and Safety issues and review policy often to ensure regulatory compliance and continued welfare of their staff in a constantly changing environment.

Why it's important to us...

Our Health & Safety Management System and HSE philosophy support our vision of being the principal steelwork fabricator in Wales. This vision is only feasible with the aid of healthy, highly motivated, success-driven staff who focus on and take personal ownership of health and safety practices at all levels within the organisation. We strive to facilitate an environment of wellbeing for staff beyond legislative requirements and lead by example, encouraging all staff and appointed contractors to strive for best HSE practice. This ultimately facilitates a self-perpetuating awareness and cohesive, company-wide adoption of Health & Safety procedures.

What this means for you...

It can be challenging and resource intensive to manage and strictly conform to the varying on-site HSE requirements of our clients, ensuring at all times, the welfare of the combined workforce and general public at large is safeguarded. We are adept at facilitating our clients on-site HSE requirements fully, with minimal fuss or disruption to the task at hand. The HSE policy we have implemented ensures our staff are certified to current industry standards, minimising potential delays in conforming to contract specific HSE requirements (e.g. site induction or client specific HSE schemes)

Our practical 'from the ground up' approach to HSE policy is based on comprehensive risk assessment and safety management strategies. Together with our HSE advisors, we have evolved a commitment to safety and staff welfare, engaging in open and frequent communication with work groups, site managers and our clients. This commitment has been instrumental in maintaining our excellent safety record.

Our policies in action...

Job safety analyses are conducted, where potential safety or environmental hazards are identified. Actions to prevent incidents are discussed and implemented before commencing work on site. Periodic safety audits are conducted on current procedures, providing management with statistical data to identify any trends that may require action. To gain further information on our policies in practice, regular and random site inspections are conducted.

All on-site teams attend a daily pre-work meeting to discuss the activities of the day and any special precautions that may be required on the job. Any recent incidents, actual or potential, are discussed and reviewed with a view to prevention not cure.

Regular training courses are conducted by qualified instructors to reinforce safety practices, instruct staff on new skill requirements and refresh employee awareness to potential hazards.
